Moorings Lake

Lake Rules

A private 7-acre lake is located within our neighborhood. Fishing is limited to residents of The Moorings and their guests. Residents cannot give permission to anyone else to fish these waters.

  • The Moorings lake is a catch-and-release area unless removing fish is authorized and publicized by the Board (There may become a time when we want to harvest some of the fish – a common practice to keep the lake’s eco system balanced.)
  • All fish and other aquatic life must be returned to the pond. Barbless hooks are recommended to reduce injury to fish.
  • Catch-and-release fishing for residents is permitted behind the swimming pool and along the west side of the lake.
  • Please be considerate of lakeside homeowners and do not fish or enter private property without permission.
  • No additional fish species or plants can be added to the pond. To maintain an appropriate and healthy aquatic balance, any vegetation modifications or stocking programs will be done by the Board in conjunction with expert advice.
All member residents in good standing may use the lake. Access to the lake is immediately behind the pool deck area via the common area owned by the neighborhood. Residents may NOT leave boats or any other private property unattended at the common areas. If you wish to leave a boat close to the lake, it’s suggested to check with a neighbor that has a lake access home that would be willing to let you secure your boat at their dock or waterfront.

Gas and diesel motorized watercraft are STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Non-motorized watercraft (kayaks, paddle boats, row boats, canoes, etc.) and small electric-powered fishing watercraft can be used in the lake. Watercraft must be properly secured when not in use. Homeowners are requested to keep smaller craft (e.g. kayaks, paddle boats, canoes, etc.) secured tightly above the high-water mark of the pond during the winter season.

Any bodily contact with water is strictly prohibited. Water contact sports such as wading, diving, windsurfing, sailboarding and radio-controlled boats are prohibited. Belly boats, single-chambered floatation devices, including inflatable rafts, inner-tubes, inflatable mattresses and other inflatable water toys are also prohibited.
